It prepares staff and academic staff to perform their jobs with distinction through a coordinated set of complementary initiatives that support employee career paths.
Enhance career path, staff development and learning by leveraging the wealth of knowledge and experience of a group of mentors, selected speakers and trainers at the university who share their knowledge and experience. This initiative is related to the provision of individual counseling in the vocational field, training, and vocational talks.
A career conversation template for academics and staff to use when discussing career development aspirations and plans (for example, a tailored plan, a learning and development plan in ePmD). This initiative is related to training and mentoring.
A set of psychometric and behavioral tools for the development of personal and collective abilities. These tools relate specifically to coaching and mentoring initiatives, but can be applied in any context where there is a need for self- and group-awareness.
Opportunity to learn and develop a career through temporary employment (ISU Fellowship) by offering academic expertise or a functional field of work, while remaining in your current job. This initiative is related to training, vocational advice and guidance.
Employees have the opportunity to reflect, exchange ideas and plan about their future career path individually or in small groups organized in person or remotely through virtual seminars. These initiatives are linked to professional conversations.
Coaching is one of the best recognized ways to develop an individual’s leadership skills. Certified trainers offer individual sessions or small group workshops. Both managers and employees can benefit from this training. This initiative is linked to the organization’s program for developing leadership and management skills.
ISU’s International Competence Model
::::: Fellowship and Career Development Center :::::
ISU is progressing in an evolving environment and the enhanced global competency model reflects the behaviors, standards and values that will ensure the success of the university along with the personal and professional development of academics and staff.
The General International Competences provide us with a common language for defining the behaviors required in different jobs. ISU’s enhanced global competency model is integrated into the HR strategy and its main components.
Each competency includes a set of behavioral and academic indicators required of the employee at the university at the specific job level and the assigned academic degree.
Three groups of competencies have been identified: academic, managerial and leadership to remind us of the successful behaviors that we need to display in all our daily work at ISU.
ISU’s Enhanced International Competence Model is the result of a consultative process across the university and is intended to be a fairly complete resource in your exploration and implementation of organizational competencies.
