ABOUT THE ACADEMIC TRACK
The PhD in Journalism and New Media offered by the Department of Journalism and New Media is one of three separate and distinct tracks of the PhD track within the Institute of Postgraduate Studies.
The PhD of Journalism and New Media focuses on exploring the intersection between journalism, new media practice, and society. Students gain a solid foundation through coursework that explores the theories and methods that make up mass communication research. The interdisciplinary program examines not only traditional journalism, but also the industry’s ever-expanding frontiers, including user-generated content, citizen journalism, audience influence on news production, the practice of shaping new technologies, the role of social media in news, and quasi-new journalism. - Training those enrolled in the academic track on the various and integrated skills necessary to master management skills in paper and electronic newspapers.
- Training those enrolled in the academic track to criticize and analyze field problems and how to present solutions and proposals to address them.
